July 22, 2010 (7:15AM-9:15AM)

Roanoke, VA

Sponsored by:

Dr. Michael Friedlander is the founding Executive Director of the VT Carilion Research Institute, which will officially open its doors later this year on September 1st. He has a $50 million startup budget and expects to employ 50-100 people by year end. That number will jump to 400+ in the next five to seven years, as Dr. Friedlander recruits additional scientists, technical staff, and administrative personnel to the region. That number doesn’t include the 168  medical school students, who will all work on a research project while pursuing their medical degree. As the founding director, Dr. Friedlander will be a critical catalyst for developing Roanoke's biomedical research and business economy. Join us on July 22nd to learn more about Dr. Friedlander’s vision for the Research Institute, its short and long term impact on the NewVa region, and what opportunities it presents for the NCTC community.

Reservations are $20 per person for members and $30 for non-members. Price includes breakfast.
