Moving to the Area
In July of 2005, I moved to Blacksburg, Virginia so my wife could pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. I had never been to this part of Virginia before. I heard great things about the area and the quality of life, but I had a hard time finding job resources, especially in the technology sector. When I was able to meet a few people, many who were connected with the NCTC, it became much easier and ultimately lead to my position as the Executive Director of this organization. Now that I am in a position to provide assistance, I want to help others that will be moving to the area, especially the "trailing spouse" or other family members.
This is a great time to be living in Southwest Virginia, earn a good living and enjoy a high quality of life. Eighty-two percent of the jobs created in the New River Valley last year were technology jobs. So, the opportunity to have it all is here. On the page below, you will find some resources for your local job search. The NCTC provides free job listings on our website for member companies, but we've provided additional resources, including other job boards, employment agencies, and other recommendations about how to find your ideal job here in the area.
I think you will find that the NewVa region has abundant opportunity. Please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way with your transition to the area.
Sincerely,
Cory Donovan
Executive Director
NewVa Corridor Technology Council
